Lisa R. George
Lisa R. George is a LA Contemporary figurative and plein air artist who works in oil, gouache and ink. Growing up in a family of artists, woodworkers, painters, textile designers, it was a natural progression to continue the tradition of creating artwork.
Inspired by 19th/20th century painting techniques, she often paints everyday scenes and portraits trying to encapsulate a moment visually through texture and light.
“Although I love painting a variety of subjects, I find I often return to painting trees and people. Their forms and mood are similar and fascinating. Both reflect the environment and circumstances surrounding them in a unique way. There is always a different, original story to paint.”
Lisa studied at Colorado Institute of Art and Art Center College of Design. With a background in graphic design and fine art, her experience led her to work for various entertainment studios in Los Angeles, including Disney, MGM and Paramount Studios.
“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.” – Georgia O’Keeffe
